If MNF is Won, Eagles Still Have Chance Against Cowboys
Just about everything has fallen into place the way that the Philadelphia Eagles needed it to in Week 12, with the lone exception being a Giants victory. So many of the teams around them have dropped, and if they can beat the Carolina Panthers on Monday Night Football, next Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys might all of a sudden make this a very, very interesting final few weeks of the season.
We have to remember that Philly did a great job down the stretch last year, beating the NFL odds in four straight games to finish out the year at 8-8. This year’s team is going to be a heck of a lot different in nature, but rounding out the campaign in that type of form might be good enough to get into the playoffs.
None of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Minnesota Vikings, or Seattle Seahawks won last week, and a lot of the 5-5 teams a game behind them were beaten as well.
To beat the Cowboys though, the offensive line is going to have to be a heck of a lot better than it was the first time around. Remember that it was a hit that was taken against these Cowboys that ultimately sat QB Michael Vick on the bench for the foreseeable future.
And Nick Foles, who has been playing since that point, really has looked like a deer in headlights behind arguably one of the worst three offensive lines in the game.
What we do have to remember though, is that the Eagles really didn’t play as poorly as you would have thought in the first go around. Philly was down 31-23 with the ball in the fourth quarter before fumbling it away, while the Cowboys scored 21 of their 38 points off of defense and special teams.
Still, we fully expect to see the Eagles as big time underdogs on the NFL odds when they come out on Tuesday regardless of what happens on Monday Night Football this week against Carolina.
