Eagles Sign CFL Pass Rusher Phillip Hunt | Eagles Addict

It seems the Eagles want their version of Cameron Wake, a CFL defensive end turned pro-bowler for Miami this past season.  The 6′, 248 pound Hunt, who signed a 3 year deal, had 16 sacks last season for the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers.  Hunt’s 4 year college career was spent at the University of Houston where he accumulated 51 TFL’s (tackles for loss) and 34 sacks.  He went undrafted and ended up in Winnipeg, where he spent the past 2 seasons.  Last year the Eagles plucked RB Martell Mallett from the CFL who was ultimately released after a little time on the practice squad .

Hunt appears to fit the mold of what Reid prefers in his DE’s: Undersized “fastballs” that can be a part of a pass-rushing rotation.  At this point we can basically just expect that he will be a “camp body” where he will compete with several other players wth the hope of making himself stand out.  The odds of him making the 53-man roster are low.
